Alycia

I am an experienced tutor with over 6 years of teaching in both Mathematics and English as a Second Language, working with a wide range of students to help them grow in both skills and confidence. I particularly enjoy supporting primary school children, as these early years are so important for building strong foundations in learning. My approach is patient and encouraging, always tailored to the individual child’s needs, abilities, and learning style.

In Mathematics, I focus on helping students strengthen core numeracy, problem-solving, and logical thinking skills, ensuring they feel secure in the basics before moving on to more challenging concepts. In English, I support children in developing reading, writing, and communication skills, as well as helping those who are learning English as an additional language. I believe lessons should be engaging and interactive, so I use a variety of methods and activities to keep children motivated and interested.

I also bring an international perspective to my teaching. After spending a gap year in Taipei, where I improved my Mandarin and developed my intercultural communication skills, I am able to connect with learners from diverse backgrounds and adapt my teaching to meet their needs.
Ultimately, my goal is not only to improve academic performance but also to nurture a love of learning. I want my students to feel confident, capable, and curious.
