The first thing i like to do with every student is to make sure they are comfortable and relaxed enough to want to start learning. I make sure to get an understanding of the student and figure out ways to engage their interests into the lesson. The system of teaching I use breaks down english as much as it can, even with words the “don’t make sense”. Taking “mini breaks” if the student obliges are part of keeping their brain fresh and focused. A rewards based system can be implemented to incentivise wanting to get answers correct and learning. However, there is no negative reinforcement in my teaching, i will always try acknowledge what the student did well rather than their shortcomings.
