My focus is to help students progress academically whilst providing engaging and enjoyable lessons for every student. I will ask if you have anything in particular you want to focus on or are struggling with before the session starts. If there is no particular area and you would prefer generalised overview sessions we will do an activity together to assess which parts of that topic you are less confident with before progressing. I will make resources and create a lesson plan to focus on those areas and strengthen them. The rough structure of the lesson starts with a brief introduction on what we will cover and what you will learn. This is followed by tailored teaching using various methods that will allow your knowledge and understanding to be strengthened. We will look at lots of examples to give context to help understanding. We will then focus on exam technique for the specific area and use the exam specification to ensure all marking points are understood. We will then work through some exam questions to strengthen application and practice recall. If there are any knowledge gaps or areas you struggle with during the exam questions, we will revisit the content and approach it in a different way. Student satisfaction is a priority to me, therefore however they would prefer to learn I can adapt my lesson structure to that. Whether a student would prefer to spend time going into detail on one small area, or would like a general session on an entire topic, we can create the lesson focus based on their needs and wants. As tutoring will take place online, I will send across any resources used for the student to refer back to. At the end of the lesson I always discuss next steps. We will discuss methods the student can revise the knowledge at home or how they can continue to practice their application. If they book multiple lessons I can set work for the next lesson and mark it to assess progress.
