Alexandra Wadey

I have over 7 years of experience teaching Science and Biology, with extensive experience at both GCSE and A-level. I currently work as a Head of Biology in a grammar school, having previously taught in a range of secondary and international settings. I have taught AQA and Edexcel specifications and have experience supporting students with exam preparation, practical skills, revision and exam technique. Alongside classroom teaching, I have experience with assessment, marking and moderation, as well as creating curriculum resources and adapting lessons to suit different learning needs. I particularly enjoy helping students who feel that Biology is difficult to understand, breaking complex topics down into clear, manageable steps and helping them become more confident and independent learners.

Learning with me is about more than simply going through the Biology specification. I help students build a strong understanding of the subject while developing the confidence and exam skills they need to succeed. Lessons are tailored to each student, focusing on the areas they find most challenging and using clear explanations, retrieval practice and exam-style questions to strengthen their understanding. I aim to create a relaxed and supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. Students will also learn how to approach unfamiliar questions, use scientific vocabulary accurately and apply their knowledge effectively, skills that can make a real difference in exams. Most importantly, I want students to leave each lesson feeling that Biology is becoming clearer, more manageable and more enjoyable.
