We’ll learn at your pace, building strong fundamentals while keeping lessons engaging and inspiring. I structure each session around clear, achievable goals, using songs you enjoy to introduce new techniques, chords, melodies, and essential music theory. By learning through real music, you’ll not only develop your technical skills but also understand how everything connects and fits together across the fretboard.
I break down each song or exercise step by step, working through sections carefully so you fully grasp what you’re playing and why. Whether it’s rhythm work, lead playing, improvisation, songwriting, or building confidence in timing and tone, I make sure you feel comfortable before moving forward. There’s nothing quite like the rush of finally playing a song you’ve been working on, and I aim to make that sense of progress feel regular, motivating, and rewarding.
For students ready to take things further, I also offer guidance on ensemble playing and band communication. We can work on rehearsal etiquette, listening skills, locking in with a rhythm section, and understanding your role within a group. If you’re interested in leading projects, I can share insight into band leadership, organisation, and how to run productive rehearsals.
I’ve been playing guitar for 24 years and graduated from BIMM Institute (formerly Tech Music School). Over the years, I’ve performed extensively in original bands and professional function and wedding bands, covering styles from rock, metal, funk, and soul to country, blues, and reggae. I’ve spent countless hours on stage and in recording studios, working alongside talented musicians and bringing that real-world experience directly into my teaching.
