Ten years teaching in Malaysia, South Korea, China and the UK taught me one thing above all: you improve fastest when you are the one doing the talking. So in my lessons, you talk and I listen closely.

How the lessons run. We start with a short conversation so I can hear your level properly and understand what you actually need English for. From there I build a plan around your goals rather than working through a textbook.

A typical hour looks like this: ten minutes of warm-up conversation to get you thinking in English, then focused work on one target for the session, then real practice using it. I send you a short summary afterwards with the corrections and new language from the lesson, so you have a record you can revise from.

What the lessons feel like. My background is in drama and community theatre, so we use role-play, discussion, debate and real scenarios rather than gap-fill worksheets. I correct pronunciation in the moment, but I note grammar mistakes quietly and we review them at the end, because interrupting you mid-sentence is the fastest way to make someone stop speaking.

The atmosphere is relaxed and slightly demanding. You should leave a little tired.

My experience. I am British and CELTA-qualified, with a BA in Drama and Community and over ten years teaching abroad. I have worked with complete beginners and with executives at Mercedes-Benz Korea and Samsung, taught learners aged 4 to 60-plus, and trained teams of teachers in China and the UK. Whatever your level, I have taught someone starting where you are.
