I offer Italian lessons for students of all levels, from complete beginners to more advanced learners. Lessons are adapted to your level and the area that you'd most like to improve. Depending on your focus, I can create lessons using various forms of content to reach your goals. I like to blend all areas of language learning in lessons such as listening, writing, reading, and speaking. Rather than just lecturing students on grammar, I prefer to have interactive lessons where we do excercises together and hone in on problem areas. When a student is unsure about the meaning of something rather than giving the answer away, I try to help the student understand through pointed questions. Although grammar will naturally be one of the main focuses in class, I try to incorporate it in excercises and conversations before explaining the concept. This way the student has a more profound understanding of the rule. I encourage students to speak as much Italian as possible during the lessons. If the student makes mistakes I will explain anything that is unclear, and ask what they don't understand rather than just bluntly correcting them. I usually structure lessons around a broader theme or situation, and then throughout the lesson focus on more specific rules or vocabulary. For beginners, I can help you build a solid foundation in basic grammar and vocabulary while gradually becoming more comfortable speaking. For more experienced students, lessons can have a focus on improving fluency, accuracy and a more natural use of the language.

I am happy to adapt lessons depending on your interests and reasons for learning Italian. The pace can also be adjusted depending on how much time you have available for studying outside of lessons.

My aim is simply to make lessons useful and comfortable, while helping you steadily improve your Italian. Whether you are starting from scratch or looking to practise and maintain your existing skills, I would be happy to help.
