I like to prepare subject matter for students to revise and walk them through it, then quiz them on it after asking them to revise.
I will find out what in particular the student is struggling with and focus on getting them up to scratch, I will always communicate clearly with the student to determine how they feel their learning is progressing.
I will explain clearly what is needed to pass a certain exam/level of study and make sure that the student is adequately prepared.
I also like to find out what the student enjoys studying, and I will incorporate that into the lessons - enjoyment helps achieve focus.
Further to this, students all learn in different ways. I will endeavour to determine whether the student retains information more through reading, listening, practical work or a mixture of various types of teaching.
