I am a trained language teacher with extensive experience guiding students through the complexities of French. I understand the hurdles students experience during the limited contact time they have with French in their school classes, and can support them in overcoming these. I have a proven track record of KS3 students improving their confidence and end-of-year test scores after completing lessons. Further, I have successfully guided GCSE students through the preparation for their exams through interactive lessons, breaking down exam strategies, and extensive practice. My specialisation is helping reluctant or anxious speakers find their voice and transform textbook knowledge into confident, spontaneous conversation. We move at a speed which is tailored for each student and is a sweet spot between being challenging enough that they are learning, but also slow enough that they feel supported and confident to engage with the materials. There is no typical lesson as each learner has a distinct profile, however streaties I incorporate with all students are a spontaneous warm-up in French which recaps knowledge from the previous lesson, modeling of the target language and repetition of it to tune the ear to the specificities of the pronunciation, frequent reading aloud to further support sound-spelling correspondence, engagement with authentic resources and supporting activities, a gradual build in difficulty in a given sequence (for exampe preparing to write a paragraph) and as much speech in French as the student can engage with comfortably.
