My experience with drawing
I have been drawing nearly my whole life and it is the one passion that has never left my side.
Informally, I have been more than happy to sit down and teach friends and family what I know and shared the honest ups and downs that come with the hobby.
It is my belief that drawing is the one subject that should always be tailored as it is a skill where we are all at a different point with different interests.
As a former art student, I feel that public teaching of drawing can feel quite overwhelming. Perhaps students could relate to the feeling of ‘My peers are much more skilled’ or ‘I’m not progressing at all’.
Believe me, I have been there too many times to count.
But please remind yourself, art is not a race.
Such a mindset will only stunt you and it is also something we can freely talk about during my lessons.
How will your lessons look?
My lessons will have the above in mind, before we get to work, I’d like to get to know my student, discuss where your passions lie, discuss your previous work and where you want to be.
Of course, not everyone will have a set goal. That’s what I’m here for!
The most exciting step is letting your hand get to work. As expected, these lessons won’t be mindlessly talking at a screen. Majority of the lesson may be spent practicing art styles, going over older work and discussing new routines and techniques to encourage progress in your art.
By the end of the lesson, my student should be able to leave with a goal in mind, methods of practice and sources that have personally helped inspire me over the years when creativity feels low and hard to find in a busy life.
Additionally, outside of tutor time I would love to see your work and progress so please do not be shy to share!
