I’m currently a Chemical Engineering student at the University of Manchester with experience tutoring both GCSE and A-Level Maths, as well as volunteering in primary school settings. This has given me experience working with a wide range of ages and abilities, and adapting explanations to suit different learning styles.
My tutoring sessions focus on building a strong, intuitive understanding of GCSE and A-Level Maths, and then applying that understanding to exam-style questions. I aim to help students grow in confidence by breaking down complex topics into clear, simple steps that make the ideas easier to understand and use. Once the foundations are secure, we focus on applying methods effectively under exam conditions.
I enjoy explaining challenging ideas in a structured and accessible way, and I adapt my teaching to each student, often approaching topics from different angles until everything clicks.
I understand how frustrating it can feel when confidence in maths is low, and how important it is to rebuild that understanding in a patient and supportive way. This is something I value in tutoring: helping students feel more secure through clear explanations, practice, and steady progress.
My teaching style is calm, encouraging, and flexible. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s needs, whether that involves strengthening core foundations, improving exam technique, or working on accuracy and speed. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and learning at their own pace.
I place strong emphasis on exam-style questions, as this is where understanding is tested and where students learn to apply their knowledge effectively. My goal is to help students improve their exam performance while building confidence and independence in the subject.
