Alashe Monsurat

Hello! My name is Alashe, and I am a Biology Education graduate from Lagos State University. I am passionate about helping students understand Science and Biology in a simple, clear and engaging way.

My lessons are designed around the student's level, learning needs and areas where they need support. I believe every student learns differently, so I take time to understand what the student already knows before introducing new topics.

During my teaching practice and NYSC service, I gained practical experience teaching learners at different levels. I taught Basic Science and Mathematics and worked with primary school students, including Basic 3, Basic 4 and Basic 5. I also had experience preparing lessons, managing classrooms, asking questions, giving exercises and helping students who needed extra explanation.

In my lessons, I don't just give information and expect students to memorise everything. I explain concepts step by step, use everyday examples, ask questions and encourage students to participate. When a topic is difficult, I break it into smaller parts until it becomes easier to understand.

I can support students with Biology, Basic Science and related topics, as well as revision, homework support, test preparation and building a stronger understanding of topics they find challenging.

I also understand that sometimes a student may know a topic but struggle to explain it or answer questions correctly. In such cases, I help the student identify where the problem is and work through it together. I encourage students to ask questions because I believe asking questions is an important part of learning.

For younger learners, I like to make lessons more interactive by using simple examples, questions, pictures, activities and repetition where necessary. For older students, I focus more on understanding concepts, practising questions, connecting topics to real-life situations and preparing them to answer questions confidently.

My goal is not just to finish a lesson. I want the student to leave the lesson thinking, "Oh, now I understand it!"

I am patient, approachable and willing to adjust my teaching style when something is not working for a student. I also believe that making mistakes is part of learning, so I create a space where students can learn without being afraid of getting an answer wrong.
