I'm a former English Teacher with experience teaching National 5 & Higher English in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire. I have a PGDE in Secondary English from Aberdeen University, and over ten years of both teaching / tutoring.

My degree is in English, allowing me to help you break down the techniques in either prose, poetry, plays or factual news articles. My skills are in helping people understand what is required to pass the exam, and I am able to help with RUAE, Scottish Texts and critical essay. In addition, I have worked with pupils with autism, dyslexia and those who lack confidence in English.

The folio component has to be your own work, I would only be able to offer topic advice in line with the SQA guidelines.

Lessons are tailored to your specific needs, and completely individual. At our free initial discussion, we can plan a road map for you to improve your skills and gain confidence. My aim is to be able to help candidates understand what the SQA are looking for, allowing you to focus on the demands of the question and not spend time second guessing how to answer.

Communication is via WhatsApp group, with parent / guardian added in to all our communication. I also use Google Meet for online sessions which is free for candidates to use.

Based between Alford, Aberdeenshire and central Edinburgh - I offer online sessions. In addition, I can do 1:1 by prior arrangement.
