I have been learning languages for forty years, and teaching for over thirty. I know how to study, and so, how to teach foreign languages. I especially love teaching my own, both the language as such and the culture that formed it, its literature and history. If you want a deep and broad understanding of, not only how to speak, but who the Americans and English are, why they think the way they do, and just everything a native would know, then I may be what you are looking for! I don’t promise magic in a day, but I can promise that with determination and hard work, you can achieve what I have achieved. I know your struggles, because I have experienced them myself, again and again. I’m currently teaching myself Serbian and Turkish!
I teach grammar, which is actually very important, despite what some might tell you, using a method I call “stupid English”, often turning grammar lessons into comedy hour. I can offer everything about American culture, the stories, songs, poems, and I can even teach baseball. I know a good deal of English culture as well, and my favorite writers are all English, not American. It’s the same language, though we poke light fun at each other, the “Yanks” and the “Brits”. I can offer history and literature as well. We can go as far and as deep as you like. I currently have two students who I have had for six years now, a thirteen year-old Russian girl who can discuss the American Declaration of Independence and has read poets like Edgar Allen Poe, and an adult student who has gone from i termediate to advanced and is now part of my translation team, translating the writings of GK Chesterton into Russian.
So the sky’s the limit!
