I am a fourth-year medical student at the University of Leicester with a strong passion for teaching, mentoring, and widening participation within medicine. Throughout medical school, I have actively participated in numerous free teaching days organised by various medical societies, while also tutoring students privately. In addition, I am involved in a widening participation programme where I provide free face-to-face mentoring sessions for a student from a disadvantaged background. My support includes guidance on medical school applications, MMI preparation, UCAT strategy, and managing the pressures of A-levels.

As the first future doctor in my family and the oldest sibling, I have had to navigate many of these challenges independently. Although this experience has helped me become resilient, adaptable, and well-rounded, it has also motivated me to support aspiring medical students by offering guidance and resources that I may not have had access to myself. Being able to help students feel more confident and supported during such an important stage of their education is something I find genuinely rewarding.

I would describe myself as cheerful, approachable, and detail-oriented. During my time at university, I have worked in several different professional roles, which has strengthened my communication skills and taught me how to tailor my approach to suit individuals from a wide range of backgrounds. For example, working as a bank Healthcare Assistant allowed me to care for patients of different ages and circumstances while maintaining professionalism, empathy, and respect. These experiences have not only improved my patient communication skills but have also positively influenced my teaching style, allowing me to explain concepts in a more relatable and adaptable way.

Although several years have passed since I sat the UCAT and attended MMIs myself, I still clearly remember how demanding it was to balance preparation alongside A-level studies. While this is a challenge shared by many medical students, my current experience tutoring A-level students has given me an even greater appreciation of the pressures they face and the importance of supportive mentorship during that period.

In terms of personal development, I am particularly interested in continuing to improve my teaching abilities, as medical education is something I hope to remain involved in throughout my career. I believe my enthusiasm for mentoring, commitment to widening participation, and passion for education strongly align with the values of Blue Peanut Medical.

Thank you for considering my application.
