Have been tutoring for 4 years in various environments including 1 to 1 in person, online tutoring , as well as tuition centres. I have had a range of students from as early as reception to resit students. I have tutored sen students, as well as primary school students up until a level/ college students and resit students.
For all the students I’ve tutored, i begin with a test to determine the level of knowledge they have; for example with gcse students i would give a past paper. After assessing by their test, i would note down key topics i see they have struggled with and log it. I would then go through their weakest topics week by week by first teaching the concept and then giving example questions with increasing difficulty to ensure concrete understanding. I would then finish teaching the topic by giving past paper examples of the topic.
I sat a pearson edexcel exam board maths paper but am aware of the aqa and ocr maths spec as well and have tutored them before.
I follow this basic routine with most students but adapt it to fit the needs of the student.
Additionally i do understand that sitting down and working for an hour or 2 non stop can be mentally draining on some students so I can provide breaks during the sessions if needed.
I charge different rates for gcse and a level students; i charge 15/16 on average for gcse but 20/21 for a level as i am aware of the difference of difficulty.
