My lessons are calm, structured and fully personalised to each student’s needs. I begin by getting to know the child — their strengths, areas for development, learning style and confidence level. This helps me design sessions that feel achievable, supportive and engaging. Every lesson follows a clear routine so pupils know what to expect, which helps them feel secure and ready to learn.

A typical session includes a short warm-up to activate prior knowledge, followed by a step-by-step explanation of the new concept. I model strategies clearly, using visual aids, examples and guided practice to help the child understand not just what to do, but why it works. We then move into independent practice, where I support the child through questions, prompts and encouragement. Each lesson ends with a brief review to check understanding and celebrate progress.

My teaching style is patient, encouraging and adaptable. I have experience supporting a wide range of learners, including those with SEND, EAL and confidence-related barriers. Because of my background as a Teaching Assistant and Learning Support Assistant, I am skilled at breaking learning down into manageable steps, re-explaining concepts in different ways and creating a positive, reassuring environment where children feel comfortable asking questions.

I use a mix of interactive activities, practical examples and scaffolded tasks to keep lessons engaging and accessible. Whether we are working on reading fluency, comprehension, phonics, writing structure or core maths skills, I tailor the content to the child’s pace and goals. I also incorporate movement-based or creative elements when appropriate, as these can help children stay focused and enjoy the learning process.

Parents receive regular updates on progress, strengths and next steps. I believe communication is essential, and I work closely with families to ensure the child feels supported both during lessons and at home. My aim is not only to improve academic skills, but also to build confidence, independence and a genuine enjoyment of learning.
