Your basic drum kit is comprised of: Kick - the big low drum that goes thump Snare - the mid sized drum between the players legs that goes snap Toms - the small, medium, and big drums around the kick drum that go boom, boooom, booooooommm Cymbals - the round metal discs, there's a few different types: Hi-hat - looks like two cymbals flipped on top of each other that can close with a pedal Crash - typically next to the hi-hat, makes a big noisy CSSHH Ride - typically next to the kick and floor tom - makes a ringing sizzle
