History, English and Maths (primary- secondary)

Advert description
Despite being a newly qualified teacher, I believe i can help you grow through in many subject areas to help improve your knowledge. I had studied History as a degree and I have completed a maths proficiency test with a certificate of completion from Elevate My Maths, this is part of The National Association of School-Based Teacher Trainers. This shows even though Maths might not be my specialty but I am confident in my ability to teach it.

I possess a determination to continue to develop professionally as a teacher. I strive to create a culture of error in my classrooms, allowing students to make mistakes. This means that the more mistake you make quicker you learn. This is extremely important to me as it is one of the best ways a student can learn. Doug Lemov says it best: A culture of error is “an environment where [teachers] feel safe making and discussing mistakes, so you can spend less time hunting for errors and more time fixing them.”

My time at Harris Clapham as well as my second placement in Harris East Dulwich Boys has allowed me to gain valuable experiences. The diverse intake of students means that I have gained experiences teaching in a vibrant and inclusive environment. My pedagogical practice has allowed me to enhance as a teacher of both mixed and low attainers. I have enjoyed attempting to implement strategies which encourage pupils to learn not only from myself, but from also their peers through techniques such as Structured Oracy and Turn to Talk. Evidence from research shows ‘Turn to Talks’ helps increase students' opportunities to respond in content discussions (MacSuga-Gage & Simonsen, 2015). For example, I have created a new enquiry question and designed my lessons to incorporate ‘Turn to Talk’ into every part of my lesson.
