Advert description
I have got over 20 years of language teaching experience and lectured German at two universities. I am currently teaching German one-one-oe online to a Thai primary school child, an adult with special needs and a UK based teenager whose parents are German speaking.
At King's College I lectured German from 2017 to 2020 to young adults as assessed modules. As they only had German lessons once a week, I had to motivate them to do a lot of self study. Apart from doing assigned homework, the students had to keep up an e-portfolio (which was uploaded onto a Moodle based intranet site, administered by the lecturer) and we also had formative assessments prior to the final exam. I also lectured at London Business School (which was administered by King's College) and a university in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2016).
Apart from that, I taught German on short term contracts at the Winston Churchill French Lycee and CFB (College Francais Bilingue) (2025), both in London. I have also taught weekend courses at International House in London.
My lessons are varied, student centred and with clear objectives. I usually take a lot of time preparing engaging and interesting lessons, to keep the students engaged, and also consider mixed abilities and if necessary differentiate the activities and worksheets.
Most importantly, I care about my students and want them to enjoy the learning process as much as possible and make sure everyone feels comfortable and included by promoting a lot of group and pair work and survey activities, in order to foster good classroom dynamics.
