History graduate offering English lessons

I have a Masters in History, and did English up to an Advanced Higher level at school, where I received an A. I was previously a tutor with Explore Learning, and supported children aged between 5 and 16 with English work, as well as verbal and non-verbal reasoning.

I would do an initial lesson where I took time to understand what areas you need help with, what things help you to learn and what is unhelpful to you. Following that, my lessons would be between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, as any more than this can be difficult to focus for and any less than this can be unproductive. I prefer to talk through questions, to gain an understanding of what areas you’re confident in, and what areas you need more clarification on. I would be happy to look over a maximum of two pieces of work between lessons, although for younger children I would recommend not doing any big pieces of work.
