English Tutor for KS2 children

Hi everybody!
My name is Georgia, and I am currently in my second year, studying English Literature and Theatre at the University of Warwick.
I have some experience working with children over the years, including working at Summer Schools for two years, teaching English, Drama, and Music, and tutoring a KS2 child in 2020 in English and Maths - this child was very weak in English Language, and had a big improvement by the end of our lessons! As well as this, I have also volunteered to assist teachers at a local Primary school for the past three Septembers, helping the children with their classroom tasks, such as reading comprehension, spelling, and story writing.
In my lessons, I like to keep things engaging and creative; I always love to start out with a short word game, such as a word guessing game to get all warmed up and then move on to any homework that needs completing. If a child is struggling with anything in particular, I try and explain it in a simple way, and allow time for them to try and figure it out on their own. If they are finding it difficult to spell a specific word for example, I would make sure we write it out several times and say it out loud until they're confident with spelling it.
To summarise, in my lessons, I like to start with an engaging activity, then move on to any homework, answer any questions, and bridge any gaps in knowledge on the specific subject area.
Broadening a child's education and knowledge is something I find to be extremely important - this is why I hope to become a teacher in the future, and I would be so excited to get the opportunity to tutor!
