Do you need to improve your speaking in English?

I offer ONLINE classes that focus on improving your speaking ability. I’ve been teaching since 1995 and I’m very familiar with the kind of problems that YOU have.


How does it work?

1. We talk (about whatever you’re interested in).
2. I make notes of your errors in grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation.
3. We correct your errors and use them to inform the areas of language that you need to study.
4. After each class you will receive a report based on your errors, the corrections, and language areas to work on.


How does this method help me?

GRAMMAR - After identifying what areas of grammar you have problems with, I will give you exercises and activities to improve these aspects of your grammar. If you prefer to do much of this study in your own time, I will provide you with resources for homework and independent study.

VOCABULARY - As you speak I will be providing you with all of the new vocabulary that you need to talk about the things that you want and need to talk about. All of this new vocabulary will be included in the report that you will receive.

PRONUNCIATION - I will correct your pronunciation of words and phrases that you find most difficult. These words and phrases will be included in the report and I will also send you a recording of the correct pronunciation of them after each class. Focussing on correct and natural pronunciation is also the best way to improve your listening ability.


What if I have a specific reason to improve my speaking?

I can help you to improve your speaking for specific situations such as meetings, presentations or interviews. As an examiner of oral exams for the University of Cambridge I can also give you specific preparation for speaking exams.


A quick introduction to me . . .

I’m a native speaker from England and I’ve been teaching English for 30 years. In that time I’ve helped hundreds of people to improve their spoken English and communicative ability. Most of my students have been professionals with levels ranging from A2 to C2. I’ve taught in a variety of language schools, companies, universities and the British Council and I have a post graduate diploma in teaching English to adults (DELTA) from the University of Cambridge.
