I am applying for the Science Tutor opportunity and am available to start immediately. I am a trainee Secondary Science Teacher completing a school-centred PGCE in Secondary Science, with a Biology specialism and QTS, through South Birmingham SCITT in partnership with Birmingham City University. I expect to complete the Level 7 PGCE and achieve QTS in July 2027. I also hold a First-Class BSc (Hons) in Sports, Exercise and Health Sciences, which developed my knowledge of human physiology, experimental design and scientific evidence. Across education, tutoring and coaching, I bring more than six years’ experience supporting young people. Since beginning my PGCE in September, I have planned and taught Biology, Chemistry and Physics across Years 7–11 at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 during placements at Ninestiles Academy and Cockshut Hill School. I teach in line with the National Curriculum for England and GCSE specifications, using clear explanations, modelling, questioning and formative assessment to check understanding and address misconceptions. Drawing on Rosenshine’s principles, I introduce new ideas in manageable steps and guide pupils towards applying them independently. I also adapt my teaching for pupils with SEND and those learning English as an additional language through explicit vocabulary, visual models and scaffolding. Before my PGCE, I spent nearly two years working full time in the Science Department at St Edmund Campion Catholic School and Sixth Form, taking day-to-day responsibility for more than 1,400 lessons across Years 7–13. I delivered, supervised and adapted teacher-prepared lessons in Biology, Chemistry and Physics, supported GCSE required practicals and exam preparation, and supervised post-16 Science lessons. As a Science tutor with Tutor Doctor, I provided individual and small-group GCSE and A-level tuition across all three sciences, tailoring sessions to pupils’ starting points and giving regular feedback to families. I would bring FindTutors a strong subject foundation, experience supporting learners with different needs, and a calm, encouraging approach that maintains high expectations. My FA Level 1 and 2 football coaching qualifications and wider coaching experience have also helped me build positive relationships and motivate young people. I can begin immediately and offer online tutoring to students across the UK.
