The students I have taught and mentored, as a past academician, academic advisor, teacher educator, and veteran teacher and school administrator, talk about how well I listen to them, and help them identify their needs. Together, we create a chart of action, with specific tasks and deadlines. I make them feel comfortable to open up to me, and at the same time they understand that I have expectations of them.
