Advert description
I teach Physics by starting from genuine physical questions — why the sky is blue, why GPS satellites need relativistic correction, what a gravitational wave actually measures — and then building the formalism around them, so the mathematics has somewhere to live.
My lessons are interactive and problem-led. Each session follows a three-step structure: I introduce a concept with a real-world example, work through a fully worked problem with the student, then set a closely-matched problem for them to attempt with my guidance. Students leave each lesson able to do something they could not do before.
With thirteen years' full-time Physics teaching in a selective secondary school and a PhD in Astrophysics, I cover the full A-Level Physics syllabus across AQA, OCR and Edexcel, including the optional Further Mechanics, Astrophysics and Turning Points in Physics topics. I also teach GCSE Physics and Combined Science at both Foundation and Higher tiers.
For examination preparation I emphasise past-paper technique: how to read a question for what is actually being asked, how to structure calculation answers to earn method marks even when the final answer is wrong, and how to manage time under examination conditions. Each lesson ends with a brief recap and a single targeted practice problem to attempt before the next session.
Lessons are delivered online via Google Meet with a shared digital whiteboard, and resources are shared. I provide brief written feedback to parents after every fourth lesson, and an end-of-term progress report.
