I would start with the basics, such as greetings, numbers and useful vocabulary needed for everyday life, and then slowly progress to putting words together into simple sentences. Before moving on to the next stage, I would make sure the learner understands what they have learned and can pronounce the words correctly. I would focus on listening, speaking, reading and writing rather than just one area. I would regularly check their progress and spend some time at the end of each lesson speaking with them to see how they are getting on and what may need improving. I would encourage them to use what they have learned in real-life situations outside of class and make sure we revisit previous topics regularly so they remember and build on their knowledge. If any extra help is needed I’m always available
