Teaching computer science has been a consistent and rewarding facet of my educational journey, spanning over 15 years within primary schools across London. My dedication to this field extends beyond conventional teaching, encompassing a comprehensive approach that covers ICT (Infor-mation and Communication Technology), computing skills, and digital literacy.
During my tenure at St. Saviours Primary School, I undertook the pivotal role of ICT coordinator, where I played a pivotal role in the establishment of a state-of-the-art ICT suite. This endeavour included the development of a new ICT curriculum and policy, aligning technology education with evolving industry standards. In addition to coordinating, I actively monitored and supported fellow educators tasked with teaching ICT. I also initiated and delivered in-house training sessions (CPD/INSET) to enhance the quality of ICT instruction, particularly emphasizing the effective utilization of Promethean Interactive Whiteboard technology and resources sourced from Prome-thean Planet.
My role as an IT teacher encompassed the entire spectrum of the primary school, from reception to Year 6. Within this capacity, I meticulously designed the IT curriculum, ensuring its alignment with educational objectives while staying attuned to technological advancements. My teaching ap-proach emphasized the importance of a wide array of software applications and resources, creat-ing cross-curricular links wherever possible. This approach not only empowered students with basic coding skills and algorithmic thinking but also equipped them with proficiency in tools like MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
