Advert description
After earning a First-Class degree in Psychology, I pursued my ambition of educating others in psychology and the social sciences. I am a passionate and experienced teacher who believes that every student deserves access to high-quality education and the opportunity to strive for and achieve their full potential. Tutoring allows me to provide personalised support, remove barriers to learning, and help students build both confidence and academic success.
I am currently a Social Sciences Teacher (2021–present) and served as Social Sciences Curriculum Leader from September 2024 to August 2025, overseeing four qualifications and 259 students. I have extensive experience teaching AQA A Level Psychology, AQA A Level Sociology, WJEC Level 3 Criminology, and AQA EPQ. During this time, I revitalised the sociology curriculum by introducing a new topic (The Media), informed by research into topic success rates, ensuring students were better prepared for examination demands.
Alongside classroom teaching, I have led targeted intervention programmes, including a successful Year 11 intervention that improved student outcomes from grade 3 to grade 5. I regularly offered weekly academic support sessions focused on content mastery, exam technique, and confidence building. I have also supervised multiple EPQ cohorts, delivering training, marking projects, and taking part in standardisation and moderation.
I am an experienced examiner, which gives my tutoring a strong exam-focused edge. I examine:
• AQA A Level Psychology (Paper 1 & Paper 3)
• AQA A Level Sociology (Paper 3)
• WJEC Level 3 Criminology (Unit 2)
This examiner insight allows me to teach students exactly what examiners are looking for, how marks are awarded, and how to avoid common pitfalls.
Teaching Style & Approach
My teaching is grounded in evidence-based educational research. I use a structured, teacher-led approach that prioritises clarity, confidence, and progress. Key strategies include:
• Frequent retrieval practice to strengthen long-term memory
• Deliberate practice targeting weaker areas
• Regular exam practice using real exam-style questions
• Clear modelling of high-level answers
• Scaffolding to support students before gradually building independence
• Explicit teaching of exam technique, command words, and assessment criteria
I believe strong explanations, combined with guided practic
