I am a native Japanese speaker with fluent English skills and have been teaching Japanese since 2018. Over the years, I have supported students with different backgrounds, proficiency levels, and learning goals. I have experience helping students prepare for the Japanese-Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) and GCSE Japanese examinations, with two students successfully passing GCSE Japanese. The majority of my students have also achieved their goals in conversation or JLPT examinations. In addition, some of my students have gone on to find employment and relocate to Japan. These experiences have taught me the importance of adapting lessons to each student's individual needs and helping learners build confidence in using Japanese in real-life situations.
My lessons are suitable for beginners, intermediate learners, and advanced students. Whether you want to learn Japanese as a hobby, improve your conversational skills, prepare for an examination, travel to Japan, or develop the language skills needed to live and work in Japan, I will help you work towards your goals.
My teaching approach is friendly, patient, interactive, and personalised. I focus on practical communication, speaking, listening, grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, reading, and writing. I explain difficult concepts clearly and can use English to help students understand Japanese grammar and expressions when necessary. I also incorporate Japanese culture, everyday expressions, and real-life situations into my lessons so that students can understand not only the language but also how it is naturally used.
I believe that making mistakes is a natural and important part of learning a language. I encourage students to ask questions, practise speaking, and learn at their own pace in a comfortable and supportive environment. I regularly adapt my teaching methods according to each student's progress, strengths, and areas for improvement.
