My Teaching Approach and Philosophy As an experienced English teacher with over two decades of teaching under my belt, I strongly believe that students learn best when they are immersed in communicational English from day one. My approach centers around real-life communication, not memorization. I use authentic materials and real-life realia—such as video clips, signs, menus, podcast excerpts, and YouTube videos—to ensure the language my students engage with is current, natural, and relevant. I minimize Teacher Talk Time and maximize student output, ensuring learners are actively using English rather than passively listening. My classrooms are student-centered, with a focus on practical communication and the ability to function confidently in everyday and workplace scenarios. I implement gamification techniques using platforms such as Wordwall, Kahoot, and Quizizz to make learning interactive, fun, and memorable. These tools are particularly effective for revision, vocabulary building, and encouraging participation, even among shy learners. I provide regular feedback and correction in a constructive and encouraging way, helping students become more accurate and confident over time. Whether it’s through peer correction, reformulation, or targeted mini-lessons, I always ensure students know where they’re doing well and where they can improve. My goal is always to create an environment where English is used as a tool, not just studied as a subject. I tailor lessons to my students’ goals and contexts whether they’re mechanics, IT professionals, farmers, or executivesensuring the English they learn is immediately applicable to their real lives.
