For KS3 students, lessons are typically 1 hour and focus on building strong mathematical foundations, confidence and problem-solving skills.
For GCSE students (Foundation and Higher), I recommend 1–2 hour sessions depending on individual needs and exam timelines. I am confident teaching higher-level topics including advanced algebra, trigonometry, functions, circle theorems and exam-style problem solving.
Each lesson is structured to include:
• Review of previous homework and clarification of misconceptions
• Clear explanation of a focused topic
• Guided practice with increasing difficulty
• Exam-style questions to strengthen technique and accuracy
Homework is set after each session to reinforce learning and develop independence. If a student demonstrates strong understanding, more challenging questions are provided to stretch their ability and deepen their reasoning skills.
At the start of tuition, I use diagnostic questions or past paper extracts to identify weaker areas so lessons can be targeted effectively. I also offer monthly progress checks using exam-style assessments to monitor improvement, track progress and build exam familiarity.
Students are welcome to bring school homework or topics they find challenging, which I am happy to support alongside planned lessons. I maintain regular communication with parents where appropriate to ensure everyone is aware of progress and areas of focus.
My aim is not only to improve grades, but to ensure students feel confident, capable and independent when approaching Maths.
