Fun Tutorials with a Doctor of English!

In 2017, while researching my doctorate in poetry at Royal Holloway, University of London (“Sonic Poetics: Sound, Listening and Polyphony in the Work of M. NourbeSe Philip and Sean Bonney”), I started my own tutoring business in Hertfordshire, both online and face-to-face, teaching 11+, GCSE and A-Level English Language and English Literature. My love for English Language and Literature lead me to achieve a First Class Honours at Leeds University (2004). I gave my first one-to-one supervision in English while studying for an MPhil at Cambridge, in 2005, and I continued my tutoring while studying for an MLitt at St. Andrews in Creative Writing (Poetry), for which I received a Distinction. I then embarked on a series of part-time contracts at universities (Hertfordshire, Royal Holloway, UCA), adult training colleges (Mary Ward Centre), and gave outreach workshops in poetry (Parasol-unit foundation for contemporary art, South London Gallery). I taught Advanced Creative Writing for the Open University in 2008, where I was trained in online learning. From 2018 to now I am Tutor in Writing Poetry online for Oxford University. I am seeking 30 hours per week tutoring. My tutorials are fun and energising, and I delight in meeting the specific needs of each student. I hope we can work together!
