Tailored one-to-one maths tuition to help you achieve your goals

I've been tutoring maths on a one-to-one basis since 2012, during which time I've helped many students to overcome their personal challenges and achieve the grades they needed to pursue their goals. I teach secondary school level maths, up to GCSE level (key stage 3 and 4), and also upper primary school level (key stage 2).
Although I have a bachelor’s degree and a maths A level, it’s my broad range of experience in tutoring maths (and other subjects) which makes me the ideal person for your tuition. My experience ranges from tutoring primary children aiming to achieve the necessary SATS results to enable them go to their chosen secondary school, through to post 16 students struggling to achieve their functional skills maths qualification, through to the highest-flying GCSE maths students aiming to achieve a level 9 with full marks.
I maintain a calm and friendly approach, helping students to find their own way to understand the maths they're learning. I have extensive experience of working with children with Special Educational Needs, so I understand the benefits of exploring different ways of working to help each student learn in the best way they can, while maintaining focus on the medium-term goal of passing the necessary exams with the required grades.
I keep my teaching methods as simple as possible, making the best use of the available technology without getting side-tracked by the possibilities of the interfaces being utilized. For example, wherever possible, I like to demonstrate correct practice, live and in real time, by writing down the correct way to tackle a maths question, including the correct layout, and streaming this via a visualiser and sharing the screen with my student; and at the same time explaining what I’m doing and why. I find this a very effective way to eradicate any bad habits and techniques, and to develop correct thinking and practice.
I aim to help every student who studies with me to develop a positive and confident approach to learning anything new and taking on any new challenges - a life skill which I consider to be at least important as the ability to achieve the academic grades needed to progress to the next level.
