Year 4 - Year 10 tutoring. 11+ and 13+ public school entry

Advert description

I am a recently retired Head of Department in London Preparatory schools. Over 20 years I developed a reputation for being a very good tutor to pupils struggling with a range of learning disabilities. I specialised in Verbal and Non-verbal Reasoning, Maths and English for entry into senior schools. I am very familiar with senior school entrance expectations at Y6 and with the Independent Sector requirements for 11+ and 13+ at Y6 and Y9.

I have Enhanced DBS accreditation. I am registered with The Tutors Association with whom I have had a number of tutees at various stages of education. I am currently a Maths and English tutor to a Year 5 boy in Woodingdean and a Year 6 boy in Hollingbury (through Bark) and English tutor to a Year 6 girl at my home. All are at different levels of understanding and I tailor the sessions to suit their ability. If you would like them to provide references for you I am more than happy to do so.

My sessions are informative and I have a good understanding of behavioural and learning difficulties. This enables me to engage with children of all backgrounds and abilities in a non-judgemental manner.
My successes come from my ability to establish the tutee's level of understanding and work with them to improve their knowledge and skills in methodical stages. Through context and clarity I am able to bring understanding where there is confusion.

I am a patient, calm, approachable person with a gentle yet entertaining nature that puts children at ease. I have a good sense of humour and I believe that learning is more successful when it is an enjoyable experience so I make the learning fun.

I would be very happy to meet you and your child, either at our home or yours, before you make any decision to take me on.

My wife and I have recently moved to Kemptown, close to Brighton College. I am happy to conduct tutoring sessions in a very comfortable environment at our home or I can travel to a location of your choice if more suitable.

I look forward to hearing from you in due course

With best wishes
