Advert description
Making Maths Make Sense, One Problem at a Time! I’m a Civil Engineering graduate currently studying an MSc in Engineering Management at the University of Sunderland, and I’ve always enjoyed the problem-solving side of mathematics. For me, maths is more than formulas and numbers; it is about understanding why something works and knowing how to approach a problem with confidence. My academic background in Civil Engineering gave me a strong foundation in Applied Mathematics, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, calculus, statistics, vectors, mechanics, and mathematical problem-solving. Throughout my degree, I worked with complex calculations and technical problems that required accuracy, logical thinking, and attention to detail. I learned how to turn complicated problems into smaller, easier steps, and that is exactly how I approach tutoring. I know that not everyone immediately enjoys maths! Sometimes a topic can seem confusing simply because it has not been explained in a way that makes sense to you. My goal is to change that. Instead of simply giving you the answer, I will help you understand the process, identify patterns, and develop your own problem-solving skills. We can take things step by step, work through examples together, and practise until you feel comfortable tackling similar questions independently. My engineering experience also allows me to connect mathematics to real-life situations. In my professional roles, I have used calculations, measurements, quantities, estimating, costing, spreadsheets, and data analysis in construction and engineering projects. I have prepared Bills of Quantities, worked with material and labour calculations, and developed pricing systems using Google Sheets. So, if you have ever wondered, “When am I actually going to use this maths?”, I can show you! As an online tutor, I aim to make lessons relaxed, interactive, and encouraging. I believe there is no such thing as a silly question. If something does not make sense, we simply approach it from another angle. I can use worked examples, diagrams, practical applications, digital tools, and step-by-step explanations to make lessons easier to follow. Ready to make maths a little less scary and a lot more understandable? Let’s solve it together, one equation at a time!
