Bilingualism is a Responsibility, not a Skill

Growing up bilingual means different things to different people. In my case, bilingualism meant helping family members and strangers alike jump over a language barrier. The satisfaction I achieved after two (or more) monolinguals were able to communicate motivated me to earn a Bachelors Degree in Spanish. Improving my fluency and diction in my native language allows me to better serve monolinguals. I want all my students to become responsible bilinguals. Together, we will break down our colleagues', friends', and relatives' language barriers as a bilingual should.
