Advert description
I will establish that any idea is a good idea to make the student feel comfortable and at ease. In terms of my teaching method, I will begin analytical discussions with broad, more conversational questions that can bring in mine and the student's personal experiences, before linking this to pieces of the literature being studied, creating tangible links to real life experience to enable longer lasting retention of the information. For example- if the text was 1984 by George Orwell, we would discuss the impact of modern technology on our relationships (perhaps discussing the pandemic), and how this has developed, before beginning to interrogate and explore the author's own beliefs and aims with their text. I would then build up knowledge with historical context, using resources such as video essays to break up the session, before beginning close analysis. Revision techniques such as Kahoots would be used to begin each new session, to strengthen student's memory of topics covered.
