Based on over ten years of industry experience, Jack gives lessons in composition, production, guitar and more!
Advert description
While Jack’s guitar work is most closely related to alternative rock and indie music, he strives to defy genre boundaries and takes influence from a wide range of styles. As a guitarist he has also performed jazz and classical music. He is a confident finger-style and pick player who teaches both depending on the interests and needs of the student.
In songwriting he has written a solo EP and co-written with a wide range of artists, and as a composer Jack has written work for film and video games, as well as standalone pieces of music. He has experience of writing and arranging for classical and popular ensembles as well as using electronic music techniques to produce a wide array of music.
All of the lessons Jack gives are designed with each individual student in mind. Students who learn best by ear will not receive the same lessons as those who learn by reading music, even if they are of the same level and learning the same piece of music. Although there is value in being able to read and write music notation it is not always needed to make music that sounds amazing, and can sometimes be counter-productive to a student’s progress. Jack strives to make sure that each student is learning in the ways that best suit them.
To get the most out of Jack’s lessons it is recommended that students attend lessons at least every two weeks and practice regularly. Length of lessons and purchase of equipment depends entirely on level and each student’s needs and availability. Students being introduced to guitar, music production and songwriting will be able to make use of Jack’s resources during in-person lessons. This is to increase the access of music lessons as much as possible.
