Advert description
I have a bachelors in Music Technology from the University of Bournemouth.
I also have a bachelors in Human Rights Law from the University of Central Lancashire
I have played music since my early adolescents. I love the guitar and try to spend at least a couple of hours playing it every day – I have worked hard on my theory and continue to learn still. I see music as a field of creativity and beauty that many children miss due to the rigid national school curriculum.
I have a wonderful role right now where I teach 5-11yr olds usually in groups of 6 for half an hour. I also have some groups with a mixture of guitar and ukulele and have taught ukulele to whole classes in the past. I have played, and currently do play, in bands and it is probably where I am happiest.
I have also had the opportunity of teaching music in Recife Brazil for 3 months. It was amazing how music broke down the language barrier and how I was able to help very proficient musicians, who played an instrument I did not, by clapping out rhythms for them to help them internalise the piece they were playing.
Tutoring young students the guitar/ukulele has been the most enjoyable role I’ve ever had. I am extremely passionate about bringing intrigue and excitement around learning music. I’m very flexible, willing to go above and beyond, would learn new instruments, and am very much a team player.
