Advert description
I have a strong academic background in biological sciences, including a First Class BSc (Hons) in Applied Zoology and an MSc in Primate Conservation, together with a previous teaching and student-support experience, I believe I could make a positive contribution to your education. In addition, I have access to a large portfolio of ready-made science lessons and teaching resources covering topics up to GCSE level, which are ready to use. This means I can offer structured lessons from the outset while also adapting resources to suit each student's individual ability, learning style and areas for development.
My academic background has given me a strong understanding of scientific principles, research methods, data analysis and biological sciences. During my degrees, I developed excellent research, analytical and organisational skills. I also completed research projects involving primate behaviour at Paignton Zoo Environmental Park and field research at the Los Cedros Biological Reserve in Ecuador. These experiences required careful observation, accurate data collection, critical thinking and the ability to communicate scientific information clearly.
I also have direct experience supporting learners. As a Student Enabler with Claro Learning at Plymouth University, I provided academic support to students with additional learning needs, including dyslexia and autism. This experience taught me the importance of patience, clear communication and understanding that different students learn in different ways.
In addition, I have experience teaching English to Spanish students in Gran Canaria. This further developed my confidence in explaining information clearly, building rapport with learners and adapting teaching methods to suit individual abilities.
I am a patient, approachable and reliable person with excellent communication and organisational skills. I enjoy helping others understand new concepts and would find it particularly rewarding to help students develop their confidence in science and achieve their academic goals. My combination of academic knowledge, research experience, teaching experience and practical background would allow me to bring both subject knowledge and a supportive approach to tutoring.
I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your tutoring needs and would prefer initial contact to be made through email.
