Advert description
Hi! I am a first year student at the University of Cambridge studying computer science. I've achieved 4A*s in my A-Levels including maths and further maths which are subjects that I absolutely adore and I love to share the joy that comes in the logical and mathematical (yes maybe you're not a fan of maths but I promise it can be fun!!)
I have been tutoring formally for 2 years, primarily in GCSE maths and computer science but I have also taught A-Level maths in workshops at college. My tutees are incredibly satisfied with my teaching approach and methods, a reference can be provided on request :)
Tutoring requires a very personal approach depending on the student's needs and method of learning. I would first find out your weaknesses and strengths and preferred ways of learning so that we can target what you need help in most.
This can be the typical structure of a lesson :
I first create goals for each lesson, then I teach the material whilst practising questions and actively engaging the student, giving a 5 minute break halfway through if the lesson is >1hr, as I find it's hard for students to effectively focus for so long without a break. If I'm teaching a brand new concept, I explain it to the student then practice practice practice! Doing a range of questions to allow the student to apply their knowledge, whilst being there to help guide them through the process. After the questions, I ask the student to explain to me the concepts/ explain their methodology and way of thinking for particular questions. Then at the end of the lesson, we can consolidate the information
