I'm a friendly English teacher with 12 of experience teaching teenagers and adults. I hold a CELTA, PGCE and first class degree.

I teach both online and in person (based in Devon, UK). In a typical lesson I love to get started with a short, engaging episode to spark an interest, re-activate previous learning and build confidence from the outset. I then move onto something new and do some modelling or co-constructing with my students, following an "I do, we do, you do" pattern. I like to get to know my students so that I can choose materials that will interest them. If they respond to a fun (educational) activity to reward their hard work at the end, I'm very happy to include that in my plan. Since the pandemic in 2020, I have taught a lot of lessons online: I draw on a bank of reliable resources that I have created or adapted over the years, but I am also delighted to discover new resources to keep my lessons varied and maintain students’ engagement. Currently, my students especially enjoy using Blooket, Wordwall, Quizlet and Miro to present and consolidate their learning. In addition, I have a range of resources that enable me to help students prepare for any qualifications they need to pass to meet their personal goals.
