I teach German and English as a Foreign Language at all levels and French to upper intermediate.

I have recently left Sheffield Hallam where I was Senior Lecturer in German & TESOL. I have taught English as a Foreign Language on and off for twenty years, and after having studied German to doctoral and French to Master's level my teaching skills proved easily transferable. I have also taught linguistics, cultural studies and international business at undergraduate level. I teach exclusively in the target language as much as possible, focusing on encouraging learners to use and do things in the target language on the assumption that this helps with fluency and confidence. I place particular importance on the role of pronunciation, and am especially interested in vocabulary building through use, repetition and development of associations with context.
