I am a retired Head of English. I have an extensive knowledge of grammar and vocabulary

I have just retired after 30 years as an English teacher. I have taught students from 11-18. I specialised in teaching grammar at A level. As Head of Department I felt that it was vital for students to understand the intricacies of sentence construction as well as developing a wide vocabulary. This enables students to become highly proficient writers readers and speakers. I am currently learning French and find that a sound knowledge of the grammar of my own language is greatly beneficial. I also understand the hurdles and frustrations that a second language learner encounters.
