GCSE maths made simple. 1-on-1 tutoring from a top student

I will start sessions by reviewing any previous topics we have covered and how confident the student is in them, as well as asking if they have been struggling with any other topics in their other learning/revision. I will then cover some material in more detail, likely material flagged in previous sessions. Depending on the stage of the year this will either mean introducing new content/recapping lessons or doing exam targeted revision. We will work through problems, identifying and improving any areas of weakness. As the student gains understanding I will guide them less and observe their thinking, being on standby to help if they get stuck. Finally, we will wrap up and assess how the student now feels about the topic we covered and I will give any relevant exercises for them to do before our next session.

I will approach all sessions in a collaborative way, focussing on developing the right thought-processes and relevant understanding of content and methods. This prepares students for new and challenging questions and greater success working independently. It is important for me to promote the right kind of thinking in students which allows them to ace questions, no matter how they understand things I will tailor the sessions to suit their mind and introduce an effective approach to all questions and exams. I am happy to work with textbooks, past papers or school materials to help students and will pace sessions too suit the needs of students in whatever stage of the year.

I understand that parents want to be kept updated on their children's progress and so will update you after every session so you're always up to date on what they have covered and the quality of their understanding.
