Advert description
I’m enthusiastic about helping students build their confidence and understanding in maths and science, and I aim to make learning clear, engaging, and tailored to each student’s needs.
The first lesson is free and with no commitment, giving your child the chance to see if I’d be a good tutor for them.
I am a recent graduate with a Master of Physics (First Class Honours), where I specialised in advanced mathematical physics, including quantum field theory and string theory. During my degree, I also gained research experience in biological physics. Alongside physics, I have strong skills in mathematics and computing, with experience in Python.
I am familiar with the Scottish curriculum (National 4, National 5, and Highers) as well as GCSEs and A-levels, and I can adapt my teaching to suit both school coursework and exam preparation.
My tutoring style is student-focused and flexible. I usually begin by assessing a student’s current ability and identifying weaker areas. I then build understanding through clear explanations, worked examples, and guided practice, revisiting prerequisite topics where needed.
For some students, the most effective approach is to focus on what they are currently learning in school, while for others, it is better to strengthen core skills and confidence in earlier topics before moving forward. I always tailor lessons to the individual, whether that’s breaking concepts down step by step, using visual aids, or providing extra practice problems for consolidation.
I bring years of high-level academic experience, alongside a strong foundation in problem-solving and clear communication. In addition, I can support students who are developing coding skills in Python.
Above all, I aim to create a supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and, most importantly, begin to feel more confident in their own ability.
