I have taught secondary level Physics in leading Swiss and UK classrooms since 2008. I taught at all levels from year 7 to year 13. I am familiar with A-level, IB, IGCSE and GCSE syllabuses. During this time I have also spent significant time tutoring one-on-one in both school individual tutoring programs and privately. I have always seen good grade improvements for my pupils and tutees. I am happy to tutor in person or online.
As appropriate, the tutor lesson will consist of explanations of theory and concepts, practical exercises, discussions, past exam paper practice, setting and evaluating homework exercises. I take special care to work with your child's individual learning style. The tutorial session would normally last one hour with a short rest break in the middle if required.
I am a highly experienced, recently retired secondary school Physics teacher. I obtained my B.Sc. in Physics from the University of Leeds in 1982 and a Ph.D. in Experimental High Energy Particle Physics from the University of Sheffield in 1986. Subsequently I worked for over 20 years as a professional research physicist at various institutes including CERN, The European Organisation for Nuclear Research and in the Solar Physics group at the University of Birmingham. During my years in research, I became increasingly aware of the public under-appreciation and apprehension of science. This prompted me to take the important decision to tackle these problems at the grassroots level and become a secondary school science teacher.
