Oxford PPE Graduate teaches exam technique using mark scheme to build intuition

I have an undergraduate degree in Philosophy, Politics and Economics, specialising in Philosophy and Economics, having done Maths, Further Maths, Physics and English A-Level.

I got full marks in my A-Level Maths and A*A*A*A overall, precisely because of the method I teach my students, who have had excellent results so far (one went to UCL studying Psychology, another to Nottingham to study Medicine). I teach GCSE and A-Level, Maths and Physics, and my lessons centre around providing an intuition of the mark scheme.

I keep an informal tone to my lesson, preferring to engage the student in a game-like treatment of mathematics, which can be extremely fun for the curious mind. Each problem is a puzzle, which the creators of the paper ensured has a neat solution that will fit in with previous iterations of that type of problem from older past papers.

Depending on the needs of the student, I prioritise different aspects. Some may require drilling the basics, while others may benefit from stretch exercises. There are plenty resources on the internet made by teachers, compiling questions by topic or difficulty, which we will use in lessons. I quite enjoy as it covers a wide range of exam boards.

I have been tutoring since 2017, including students my age or older, more or less continuously to date, at GCSE and A-Level. I currently teach music production, mixing and recording skills to students from challenging backgrounds at a local studio, alongside my online maths tutoring. This should assure any prospective client that I can accommodate a wide range of students.
