Literature PhD student with a passion for English and 6 years' tutoring and teaching experience, both in person and online

Throughout school and university I have always been a creative learner and so I look to incorporate this type of learning into lessons, with a mixture of fun activities and games as well as creative techniques to try to understand difficult concepts and to internalise those concepts ready for exams. I aim to make tutoring sessions as interactive as possible so that learning occurs freely and easily. Lessons will be structured around the student's classwork at the time as well as the individual learning of that student. When I begin with a new student, we will try to have an initial talk and assessment as to where that student is at and how we can best move forward and improve. I will then structure each lesson around a couple of targets for that session, which we will assess at the end of the lesson, as well as incorporating time for the student's own questions and any help needed with homework or coursework. I like to ensure that the sessions are very much based around the individual learner and I thus keep an open and flexible mind as to how each student's lessons will be structured.
